MADISON | MILWAUKEE | MINNEAPOLIS – DeWitt LLP announced today attorneys Eric H. Chadwick and Bradley J. Thorson joined its expanding Intellectual Property practice group in its Minneapolis Office. Bradley C. DeWitt’s team of attorneys works with clients around the world in all matters related to IP. Whether it’s an invention or trademark, patent prosecution, or licensing a trade secret – the IP team ensures clients maintain a competitive edge while also protecting against intellectual property theft and misuse.

Chadwick’s practice includes representation of clients in various intellectual property and commercial disputes throughout the U.S.  He focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation.   He works with his clients to achieve goal-oriented litigation.  Additionally, Chadwick has taken ten cases to verdict, in matters ranging from life-saving medical devices to ​farming technology.  He earned his J.D., cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law and his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.  He is admitted to practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 8th and Federal Circuits, and U.S. District Court,  for the District of Minnesota, District of Colorado and the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. 

Thorson is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Minnesota.  His practice is distinguished by his extensive patent reissue and reexamination experience. He has represented both third-party requestors and patent owners in reexamination proceedings for more than three dozen U.S. patents, including nine inter partes reexaminations. Those proceedings have included diverse technologies, including semiconductor manufacturing products, medical devices, building components, and farm machinery.  He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University.  Thorson is admitted to practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Supreme Court of Minnesota, Supreme Court of South Dakota, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court, Western District of Wisconsin.
