Michael E. Kreun brings more than two decades of litigation experience to his practice, focusing on real estate litigation and complex commercial disputes. He represents lenders, businesses, property owners, and other stakeholders in title disputes, mortgage and foreclosure litigation, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, and business-related conflicts in both state and federal courts. Michael is known for his strategic approach to high-stakes litigation and his ability to guide clients through disputes from investigation and discovery through trial and appeal.
Michael’s practice is rooted in creditor and real estate litigation, including lien priority disputes, mechanic’s liens, landlord-tenant matters, and bankruptcy-related real property issues. In addition to his private practice, Michael serves as a Minnesota State Senator representing District 32 in Anoka County and is the Assistant Minority Leader in the Senate. He serves on the Judiciary and Public Safety, Education Finance, and Capital Investment Committees, bringing real-world litigation experience to his public service and legislative work.
Before joining DeWitt, Michael served as corporate counsel for a Minnesota-based company managing a nationwide litigation portfolio and was a shareholder at a Minneapolis litigation firm. He is a frequent speaker and published author on real property and bankruptcy law and a former chair of the Hennepin County Bar Association’s Real Property Section.
